From this year, at Medaram Jatara Only one kilogram of bangaram (jaggery) per devotee will be allowed to be offered at the altar. This decision is taken by the government in view of the stocks that pile up leading to sanitation issues and subsequent brewing of liquor from the ‘prasadam’ that makes its way into tribal hamlets.

Generally, the devotees can make offerings equal to their own weight, from this year they can buy one kilogram each and the balance money can be put into the temple hundi

This is a historic decision given that devotees thronging the religious event consider jaggery as gold. The government has sanctioned ₹80 crores to make arrangements for the jatara to be held from January 31 to February 3.

And authorities will place floating balloons for the purpose of landmarking at the jatara site. Also, plans are made for alternate arrangements for power supply and fire safety measures are placed at power transformers.

This time the government will keep ready-made toilets and to build permanent toilets at different villages surrounding Medaram. And about 1,500 acres of land will be used parking vehicles.
